Wilfried Cream
Wilfried Creme is a floral wallpaper in a cream ground, drawn in a tropical vein. Flowers and foliage are set across the wall in a repeating arrangement, and because the design stays within one pale color family, the shapes register as outlines and shading rather than as strong blocks of color. The overall effect is light, with the pattern visible up close and softer from across a room.
Pattern and color
The cream base reflects daylight, which helps in rooms with one window or a narrow footprint. Exotic leaf forms and blooms give the design its structure, so it reads as a botanical print before it reads as a floral one. If you prefer the foliage to lead, the leaf patterns follow the same logic, and the full range of cream wallpapers covers other designs in the same tonal range. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Style and rooms
The tropical drawing style gives the paper a mid-century feel, which is why it sits comfortably in retro schemes alongside dark wood, rattan and brass. It also works in plainer, more contemporary rooms where the walls are meant to carry the only pattern. Pair it with solid-color upholstery and unpatterned curtains; against a busy rug or a printed sofa, the two patterns compete.
- Living rooms, including as an accent wall
- Bedrooms and nurseries
- Kitchens and dining rooms
- Hallways, home offices and bathrooms
In a living room the pale ground keeps the pattern from closing in the space, and it holds up well on the wall behind a sofa, where the lower half is partly covered anyway. In a dim hallway the cream tone does most of the work, and in a bedroom the pattern is quiet enough to live with over a long stretch.
