With its countryside motifs and characteristic natural decorations, wallpaper toile de jouy is ideal for bringing both a classic and bucolic feel to your spaces. Whether in the living room, kitchen, bedroom or bathroom, say "yes" to the elegant and chic patterns of Toile de Jouy to decorate your interior in a traditional and classic style... or on the contrary modern and trendy!

Toile de Jouy wallpaper, what is it?

Created in the 18th century in France in the workshops of the Jouy-en-Josas manufactory, Toile de Jouy is a cotton fabric on which characters, landscapes and pastoral and countryside scenes are printed (peasants working, in full gallant exchange, etc).
In the vast majority of cases, the designs are monochrome colored on a beige background, but sometimes the colors are reversed (colored background and off-white designs).

Symbol of a certain expertise and the famous "French elegance", Toile de Jouy is part of these ultra-classic patterns that the enthusiasm for vintage has recently brought back into fashion and to the forefront of Fashion and Decor. Today, it is therefore featured on all textiles without exception, not forgetting wallpaper to decorate the home!

How to choose the color of your Toile de Jouy wallpapers

In addition to offering you different possibilities regarding motifs and themes, Toile de Jouy tapestry is also available in various colors. You will have the choice between:

• White and blue Toile de Jouy wallpaper: this is THE classic version par excellence, quite simply. If you're looking to go traditional, don't hesitate, this is the duo you need!
• White and red Toile de Jouy wallpaper: to add a warmer and more dynamic touch, red can be an interesting alternative. Softened by the purity of white, it will be neither too stimulating nor too aggressive.
• White and green Toile de Jouy wallpaper: if green, like blue, is part of the cool colors, it must be said that when it appears on a classic pattern like Toile de Jouy, your interior immediately gains in originality!
• White and black Toile de Jouy wallpaper: what better than the winning combo "black and white" to bring an even more elegant and timeless note to the patterns of Toile de Jouy tapestry?

And for a 100% committed classico-classic side, dare the total Toile de Jouy look: on the walls, but also on curtains, linens, decoration, not forgetting the dishware.

…or revisited!

Because the Toile de Jouy pattern is now part of French cultural heritage, its motifs are now timeless. You can therefore quite choose Toile de Jouy wallpaper with a view to setting up modern and trendy decor at home. To do this, it's very simple: you just need to bring a twist with 100% contemporary decoration elements: a Scandinavian sofa, a marble and brass coffee table, colored plexiglass chairs, an industrial dining table... Dare the mix and match!

Another way to adopt Toile de Jouy wallpaper in a modern version: trust more exotic prints, such as Toile de Jouy tapestry in Indian or Japanese version. For an ethnic or Japandi style, we say "yes"!

How to adopt Toile de Jouy tapestry in the home?

Since Toile de Jouy designs are quite varied, this patterned wallpaper can quite be used in "all over" mode in a room – namely on all 4 walls of the room. Simply make sure that the room in question is sufficiently spacious, to avoid a suffocating effect.

If your room lacks volume or if you want to be more subtle, choose the accent wall option and cover only one wall of your room.
