Vivianne Grey Brown
Also available in:
Vivianne Grey Brown is a plain wallpaper in a mix of gray and brown. There is no motif to line up or repeat, so the wall reads as one continuous color, with the brown warming the gray enough to keep it from looking cold. Because the shade sits between the two, it shifts slightly depending on what it is next to: cooler beside white trim, warmer beside wood.
Color and use
A single-color wall gives furniture and artwork a quiet background to sit against. Framed prints, open shelving and tall plants all stand out clearly, and mismatched furniture looks more settled when the wall behind it is uniform. The gray-brown works with black metal fittings, pale oak, linen and leather, and it pairs easily with a patterned rug or curtains, since nothing on the wall competes with them. If you want the same effect in a different tone, the shop's solid range covers a wide span of shades, including deeper options such as dark gray. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Rooms and style
The restrained color suits minimalist interiors, where the wall is meant to stay in the background, and it also works in rooms with more furniture, as a way of calming a busy scheme. It can cover all four walls without feeling heavy, or go on one wall as a backdrop behind a bed or a desk.
- Living rooms, dining rooms and kitchens
- Bedroom walls, all over or behind the headboard
- Hallways, where a plain surface makes narrow spaces feel wider
- Bathrooms and nurseries
In an office the lack of pattern keeps the wall free of visual noise behind a screen or a pinboard. In a hallway the mid-tone color is practical, since it does not show scuffs and marks as readily as a pale wall.
