Velvet Red
Velvet Red is a plain wallpaper in a single red shade, with no motif, repeat or border to line up. The color carries the whole design, so the wall reads as one continuous field of red from baseboard to ceiling. Because there is no pattern to match across seams, the surface stays even wherever the lengths meet.
Color and pattern
Red is a strong, warm color, and on a full wall it does most of the decorating work by itself. Used on a single wall it marks out one side of the room and leaves the others free for lighter paint or a quieter covering. Used across all four walls it makes the room feel more enclosed and more deliberate. A solid color also gives furniture, framed pictures and shelving a clean background to sit against, with nothing competing for attention. Other shades in the same family can be seen in the red range. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Style and rooms
The flat, saturated red places this in retro interiors, and it works with dark wood, tan or black leather, brass fittings and mid-century shapes. It also sits well with plain white trim and with rugs or curtains in patterns of their own, since the wall itself adds no competing lines.
- A single accent wall in the living room
- Behind a TV unit or low sideboard
- Hallways, including narrow layouts
- Home offices and study corners
In a hallway the uniform color keeps a long run of wall looking intentional rather than patchy, and coats, mirrors and door frames stand out clearly against it. In an office the same evenness works behind a desk or bookcase, where a busier design would be distracting at close range.
