Urban Black
Also available in:
Urban Black is a geometric wallpaper in black. The design is built from repeating lines and shapes, so the wall reads as an ordered grid rather than a loose or organic print. Black carries the pattern on its own, without a second colour competing for attention, and the repeat stays regular enough that the geometry lines up cleanly across a full wall.
Pattern and colour
Geometric repeats give a wall structure. Because the shapes recur at fixed intervals, the eye follows them across the surface, and furniture placed in front of the paper sits against a defined background instead of a blank one. A dark ground has a practical side too: black recedes visually, so the wall feels further back and the objects in front of it stand out more sharply. It pairs simply with pale wood, brushed metal, glass and light upholstery, and it gives framed prints, mirrors or open shelving a clear outline. If the scheme calls for warmth, the paper sits comfortably alongside brass or other black and gold elements, and it fits the restrained lines of Japanese-inspired interiors. The wider selection of black wallpapers is worth comparing before you decide. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Where it works
- Living rooms, including the wall behind a sofa
- Bedrooms, on all four walls or on one
- Hallways and entryways
- Home offices and study corners
In a living room it is most often used on a single wall, where the geometry does the work and the remaining walls stay plain. A hallway takes the dark colour well, since these are spaces you pass through rather than sit in, and the repeat reads quickly at close range. In a bedroom, black behind the headboard keeps the pattern out of direct view from the bed. In an office it gives a steady backdrop for a desk and a monitor.
