Seraphin Blanc Jaune
Seraphin Blanc Jaune is a floral wallpaper in white and yellow. Plant forms and blooms are drawn across a pale ground, with the yellow carrying the pattern and the white keeping the spaces between the motifs open. Because the two shades sit at the light end of the range, the design stays legible from across a room without darkening the wall it covers.
Pattern and style
The botanical drawing has a vintage character: stems, leaves and flower heads rendered in a period illustrative manner rather than a flat graphic one. That gives the paper a decorative surface that still reads as tidy, since the yellow is warm rather than bright and the white ground provides plenty of relief. These are premium quality wallpapers. If the botanical direction is what draws you, the wider floral selection covers everything from small repeats to open sprays, and the vintage range gathers designs with the same period feel.
Rooms and furnishings
White and yellow work with wood furniture, cream or off-white paint, rattan and brass fittings. Upholstery in plain linen or cotton keeps the pattern as the main event on the wall, while a woven rug or unglazed ceramics pick up the warmth of the yellow without repeating the flowers.
- Full walls or a single accent wall in a sitting room
- Bedrooms, including the wall behind the headboard
- Kitchens and dining corners
- Entryways, landings and stairwells
- Home offices and study nooks
In a living room the light ground suits walls that carry shelving or framed pictures, since the pattern does not compete for attention. A hallway benefits from the same quality, as the white keeps a narrow run of wall from feeling closed in, and in a bedroom the yellow adds warmth to a scheme built on neutrals.
