Gauthier Brown Gold
Also available in:
Gauthier Brown Gold is a botanical wallpaper built around feathers and leaf forms in brown, lifted by gold metallic detail. The brown carries most of the pattern, while the metallic passages pick up light and mark out the edges and spines of the motifs. The result is a design with clear shapes and a fairly deep overall tone.
Pattern and colour
Feather shapes and foliage are drawn in enough detail to hold up at close range, which makes the paper worth using on a wall people stand near, such as beside a bed or along a corridor. The gold reads differently depending on where the light falls, brighter under a lamp at night and quieter in flat daylight, so the wall does not look the same all day. Brown grounds the whole thing and keeps the metallic from taking over. If the shine is what draws you, the full metallic range is worth comparing, and there are more botanical designs in related colorways. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Style and rooms
The design sits in the tropical category, though the brown-and-gold pairing gives it a more restrained, vintage-leaning character than bright jungle prints. It comes from the Michalsky collection. Pair it with dark wood, rattan, brass fittings or plain upholstery in cream, olive or rust. Against white paintwork the contrast is sharp; against warm neutrals the feathers settle back.
- Living rooms, including a single feature wall
- Bedrooms, behind the headboard or across all four walls
- Hallways, kitchens and dining rooms
- Offices, bathrooms and nurseries
In a bedroom the deeper tone suits a room used mostly in the evening, and in a home office the pattern gives a video-call background some structure without much visual noise.
