Mathieu Gray Silver
Also available in:
Mathieu Silver Grey is a gray wallpaper that combines a concrete look with marble veining. The base reads as a poured, slightly mottled surface, and across it run faint lighter and darker markings that suggest stone. A damask motif sits within the design, so the pattern has more structure than plain concrete but stays in one color family throughout.
Surface and finish
The finish is matte, which keeps the gray even under daylight and lamplight and stops bright spots forming on large walls. A textured surface adds shallow relief to the concrete areas, so the wall has something to it when you run a hand across it, and the fine structure helps hide minor unevenness in the plaster. Because the contrast within the pattern is low, the design holds up on a full room as well as on a single wall. More designs with this stone-like surface are grouped in the concrete collection, and the wider gray range is worth comparing against. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Style and rooms
The mix of raw concrete and a damask outline suits industrial schemes with metal, dark wood and exposed fittings, and it works just as well in minimalist rooms where the walls carry the only pattern. Gray pairs easily with black frames, leather, linen and pale oak, and it gives colored furniture or textiles a neutral background.
- Living rooms, including behind a sofa or a media unit
- Bedrooms, on all four walls or one alone
- Kitchens, dining rooms and hallways
- Offices, bathrooms and nurseries
On an accent wall the veining gives depth without adding strong color, and in a home office the quiet gray sits behind a desk and shelving without distraction.
