Joan Light Pink
Also available in:
Joan Light Pink is a floral wallpaper in light pink, with purple in the blooms and gray running through the stems and foliage. The botanical drawing is the main event: flowers and leaves spread across the ground in a repeating arrangement, with the gray tones keeping the pink from reading as sweet. Because the three shades sit close in depth, the pattern stays readable from across a room without turning into a block of color.
Surface and finish
The finish is matte, so daylight and lamplight fall on it evenly instead of picking out glare across the wall. The surface is also textured, with a fine relief you can feel under your hand, and that structure adds a little depth to the flowers and helps hide minor unevenness in the wall beneath. These are premium quality wallpapers. If the drawn botanical look is what you are after, the wider range of floral designs covers similar ground, and the pink selection is worth comparing for tone.
Style and rooms
The pattern suits farmhouse rooms and vintage schemes, and it works alongside painted wood, cane, rattan and simple brass or iron fittings. Plain curtains, white or cream woodwork and unpatterned upholstery give the flowers room to be seen. The purple and gray notes also make it easier to pair with darker furniture than a purely pink paper would be.
- Living rooms, whole walls or a single feature wall
- Bedroom walls, including behind the headboard
- Hallways and stairwells
- Home offices, bathrooms and the dining room
In a hallway the repeating flowers carry the eye along a long, narrow space, and in an office the matte surface keeps the wall quiet behind a screen or a shelf of books.
