Esther White

Esther White is a plain white wallpaper. There is no second shade at work, so the wall reads as one even tone, and the colour stays consistent from one length to the next. White reflects most of the light that reaches it, which makes a room look wider and taller than a darker wall would, and it gives furniture, artwork and textiles a neutral background to sit against.
Because the colour carries no pattern, it does not compete with anything you put in front of it. Shelving, framed prints, plants and dark wood all keep their outlines against it. It also pairs easily with a second wallpaper on one wall, or with painted woodwork in a stronger shade, since white takes up no visual space of its own. These are premium quality wallpapers. If you are building a scheme around a single clear tone, the rest of the white selection is worth comparing, and the Boho Chic range shows how a pale ground works under layered rugs, rattan and mixed textiles.
The neutral colour suits most rooms in a house, including ones that get little daylight. In a bedroom it keeps the walls quiet and leaves the bedlinen and curtains to set the colour. It is a practical choice to lighten hallway walls, where narrow proportions and few windows make a pale surface useful. In a home office it reduces glare-free contrast problems around a desk and keeps the background plain behind a screen or a wall of books.
