Ernest Multicolor
Ernest Colore is an abstract wallpaper built on purple, with additional shades worked into the design for a multicolor result. The forms are loose and non-representational, so there is no single motif to read across the wall. Purple carries the pattern, and the secondary colors break it up enough that the design stays active across a full wall rather than settling into a repeat you stop noticing.
Pattern and color
Because the shapes are abstract, the wallpaper works as the main visual element in a room rather than a background. Purple is a strong base color, and it sets the direction for everything else in the space: pick up one of the accent shades in a cushion or a lampshade and the whole scheme holds together. Used on one wall, the pattern gives a clear focal point; used across all four, it closes a room in and makes the color the subject. More in the same color family sits in the purple selection, and the broader multicolor range is worth comparing. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Style and rooms
The design belongs to retro and maximalism, so it pairs well with rounded furniture, chrome or brass fittings, velvet upholstery and dark wood. It also holds up against other patterns, which is the point of a maximalist scheme; a patterned rug or a gallery of framed prints will not cancel it out. In restrained interiors, limit it to a single wall and keep the remaining surfaces plain.
- Living room walls, including behind a sofa
- Bedrooms and dining rooms
- Hallways and entry walls
- Kitchens and home offices
In a living room the pattern gives seating and shelving something to sit against, and in a hallway it makes use of a space that usually gets left blank.
