Awen Gold Creme
Awen Gold Creme is an abstract wallpaper in cream with metallic gold. The design has no repeating motif to pick out, so the eye reads the wall as a whole surface rather than as rows of figures. The cream ground carries most of the area, while the metallic passages sit within it and pick up whatever light reaches them.
Pattern and color
Cream is a warm neutral, which keeps the wall from looking stark next to white trim or plain plaster. The metallic element changes with the light through the day: brighter and more visible where daylight or a lamp falls directly on it, quieter in corners and on walls facing away from a window. Because the pattern is abstract, it does not need to be lined up with furniture or artwork the way a strict geometric print does, and hanging a picture over part of it will not cut a motif in half. These are premium quality wallpapers.
Rooms and pairings
The cream and gold combination suits rooms where you want a light wall with some movement in it. In a living room it works across all four walls or on one wall only, and it is an easy choice behind a sofa, where the abstract surface sits behind cushions and a low back without clashing. Used as an accent wall, the metallic detail gives the wall enough interest to stand alone with very little on it.
- Living rooms, whole room or single wall
- Bedrooms, including behind the headboard
- Halls, entries and stairwells
- Home offices and study corners
In a hallway the pale ground helps a space with little natural light, and in a narrow hallway the lack of strong directional pattern keeps the walls from closing in. It pairs with dark wood, brass or black metal fittings, and with linen, wool and leather upholstery in cream, gray or deep green. In a bedroom or an office, plain curtains and a simple rug leave the wall as the main point of interest.
